Wine from Alto Adige

Trentino-Alto Adige is the only Italian region whose cultivated area increased in the last quarter of the 20th century. Almost all of the region’s vineyards are located in the valleys of the river Adige, from which the Alto Adige region takes its name.

Most of the wine is produced by cooperatives, which have become famous for their consistent quality and reliable production quantities.

In addition to the dominant local varieties Schiava and Lagrein, there are also grapes of Germanic origin, such as Muller-Thurgau, Sylvaner and Gewurztraminer. International grape varieties such as Pinot noir, white and grey, Chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc also offer excellent results in Alto Adige.

The wines in Alto Adige reflect the cultural and topographical complexity of the region.
