In Sardinia, the vine varieties bear little resemblance to those of any other Italian wine region. It is not uncommon to find grapes of French or Spanish origin (such as Granache, known here as Cannonau).
In Sardinia, it is not uncommon to come across wines made from mysterious grapes, such as Torbato, Semidano, Nieddera, Nuragus, Monica and Nasco.
