Sparkling red wine
Sparkling red wine is produced by restarting the fermentation of a bottled red wine. In Italy, Lambrusco is one of the most famous wines in this category.
The pressure inside the bottle, due to the carbon dioxide developed during fermentation, must by law be no less than 1 bar and no more than 2.5 bar for sparkling red wines.
A natural sparkling wine does not rely on the addition of carbon dioxide as most conventional sparkling red wines on the market do.
What makes sparkling red wines particularly popular is their vivaciousness and mellowness, which in many cases make them a perfect accompaniment to fatty and/or savoury dishes.
