Nadia Verrua is a young and humble winemaker in Scurzolengo in the hills of Monferrato, in the province of Asti, whose family cultivates the vineyard since 1908 and producing wine for family consumption and for sale in bulk. Today the vineyard area is 5 hectares with vineyards that have between 5 and 15 years of age, complemented by a good production of hazelnuts, typical of Monferrato.
Nadia in 1998, aided by his father Ottavio decides to bottle and sell wine as Cascina Tavijn, which in Piedmontese indicates a humble peasant´s house. Since 2007 he obtained organic certification, although had always been naturally tradition.
She works with native grapes: Barbera, Grignolino and Ruchè are vinified separately without added yeast and with moderate amounts of sulfur added, to maintain the integrity of the territory and grapes produced.
Like her, her wines are elegant and discreet, at first perhaps may seem introverted and a bit ´closed, but if you know more deeply, or you have a little´ patience you start with a character and a surprising freshness.
