We are in Montoncello, in a small basin framed between the mountain and the hill not far from Arezzo. We are in the Chianti area, sub-area Chianti Colli Aretini.
The vineyards, for a total of 13 ha, extend between 250 and 450 m asl on various types of land. They range from the most fertile and deep soils of the "valley bottom" to less fertile areas rich in marl and sandstone, characteristic of the highest vineyards.
It is mainly produced Sangiovese and from 2017 the whole company, including oil, is certified organic.
The company works best both in the vineyard and in the cellar, so as to limit the use of SO2 as much as possible. The Mecenate 2017 (macerated wine) for example, does not contain added sulfur.
All the wines are vinified in cement, the fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts and the macerations can reach, in some cases, even to thirty days. For some wines, Macerato and Vocato, one proceeds, in part, also to the whole cluster maceration. For the refinements are used large barrels of 40 and 17 hl for the Sangiovese and barriques of 3rd / 4th passage for the internationals.
