The Azienda Agricola Filarole is located in the hills of Pianello Val Tidone, in the last valley of the Piacenza hills. The project was born to restore life to a territory that over the years has been increasingly abandoned.
The passion for wine by Barbara and Paolo led them to buy an old vineyard (Vigna Gabbiano) surrounded by abandoned cultivations and practically become woods. They chose to follow a model of organic farming, not to remove the old vines, to replace those missing with rooted cuttings produced with genetic material from their mother plants.
After a first year of experimentation, another two hectares of vineyard abandoned for several years have been rented, Vigna di Ca Nuova Pisani, a breathtaking place, with excellent exposure and suitable for the production of high quality grapes where the 4 grapes were planted. classic Piacenza varieties: Barbera, Bonarda, Malvasia Aromatica di Candia and Ortrugo.
In Piacenza dialect the rows of a vineyard are filarol and when the vineyards are small and composed of a few rows, the vineyard is also indicated with this word. Hence the company name.
