Domaine Bannwarth is located 10 km south of Colmar and was founded in 1968 by Laurent Bannwarth and his wife. In 1987 his son Stéphane also joined the winery and began a process of profound change, culminating in 2004 when the agricultural approach turned toward biodynamics and in the winery winemaking became natural. 

Stéphane is one of the first French winemakers to take an interest in Georgian winemaking techniques, beginning to use Qvevri, the famous earthenware amphorae imported directly from Georgia.
