The story of Tiago Teles tells of a return to his places of origin in the Barraida region, after a lifetime spent tasting wines in the various terroirs throughout Portugal. A telecommunications engineer by profession, he has been a great wine critic and editor of several guidebooks.

In 2012 he decided to bring his dream to life, and after a long wander in search of the right vineyard to cultivate, he found himself in Sao Mateus in the Barraida region where he and his father began cultivating small hillside plots. "In the choice of vines the varieties have never been crucial, they are what serve the wine and not the other way around."

According to this conviction he began to vinify the grapes with great simplicity, deciding early on for spontaneous fermentations and wines completely free to express themselves. Thus "Gilda" and "Maria de Graca" were born.

The arrival of the second Vineyard

Tiago follows the flow of events with presence of mind and very clear ideas, the opportunity to take another vineyard presents itself in 2015 in another area. We are further north 30 km from Galicia in Arcos de Veldevez in the Vinho Verde area.

The area is spectacular, rolling hills where agriculture still marks the slow pace of peasant life, poor, clear soils and the Atlantic climate are traditionally perfect conditions for growing white grape varieties. This is where "Raiz" Tiago's macerated white, a simple wine of great elegance, was born.
