Giorgio Clai founded, in 2001, his winery in Krasica, a village in the municipality of Buje, in white Istria, Croatia. After dedicating his life to catering, he decided to devote himself to his dream: wine. 

The vineyard's soils, of clay-arenary marl, enjoy a microclimate particularly favorable to vine cultivation, due to the meeting of the mountain current coming from the Ucka with the sea current, which flows up the Mirna River. He thus cultivates his 10 hectares according to the principles of biodynamic philosophy, using only sulfur and copper as treatments, with the utmost respect for the nature on which they grow.

Vineyard and winery the same philosophy

The winery is a child of the same philosophy: the grapes are vinified by long macerations, without the addition of enzymes and selected yeasts. The credo is that of a return to the past, valuing quality in the vineyard, to let the grapes express their most intimate identity. Giorgio Clai's wines are diversified into 8 labels: Malvazija Sveti Jakov, Baracija Malvazija and Refosco, Ottocento white and red, Brombonero, Tasel and Pjenusac expressing the different characters of this land.
