Maria Ernesta is a child of art. In fact, for generations the Berucci family has been settled in Piglio where they have always dedicated themselves to viticulture. After a period in Rome, Maria Ernesta decided to take over the old vineyards and recover the tradition of Cesanese del Piglio and the other wines produced in this area.
With the experience gained in the family and from her father, who had already begun bottling some of the wine produced in the early 1960s, Onda, the winery's first label, originated from the vineyard in Colli Santi and produced with the help of her brother Francesco, was born in 2009.
Agro-homeopathy as a production philosophy
In 2014 Maria Ernesta met Geminiano, who introduced an agro-homeopathic approach to viticulture at the winery. Following the principles learned under the guidance of Radko Thichavsky, respectful work is implemented in the field, never invasive, aimed at fortifying the soil through mulching and homeopathic treatments. Likewise, attention is maximized during pruning, with the aim of not mortifying the plant with excessive thinning and defoliation and working in the vineyard only manually. Thus Maria Ernesta and Geminiano cultivate strong plants that can cope with diseases and pests without the excessive use of copper and sulfur.
