Domaine Barraud

Vergisson, Macon, Bourgogne
Domaine Barraud, is located in Vergisson, an enchanting place characterised by the enormous 'Roche de Vergisson', a coral plateau from the Mesozoic era, from the erosion of which originated the soils on which the Domaine Barraud vineyards stand.
Plots that have extraordinary characteristics: the vines sink their roots into soil that is only a few centimetres deep before finding layers of limestone, and the altitude is the highest in the entire appellation with vines that reach 480 metres above sea level. This guarantees a distinctly mineral character to the wines and a high aromaticity, thanks to a cooler climate and slower ripening of the fruit.
Domaine Barraud could be described as 'the university of Chardonnay', where the best plots have belonged to the family since 1905, and it is no coincidence that a battery of wines of absolute level is produced here.
The History of the Domaine
The Barraud family's winemaking history began in 1905, when Jean-Marie Barraud first purchased plots of land in Vergisson, the highest point of the Mâconnais. Since then, Daniel Barraud, together with his son Julien and wife Martine, have turned his family's domaine into the region's benchmark producer and a must for all Burgundy lovers. The heights reached by this historic producer are able to stand comparison with the best expressions that can be found in the Côte d'Or.
Always organic in the field since the 2022 vintage, they have also obtained certification.
