Domaine Huet, in the heart of the Vouvray appellation, traces its roots back to 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston, forerunners of biodynamic farming in the French wine scene. However, the facility has even deeper roots dating back to 372 AD with the construction of the Monastery of Marmoutier. From 1976 to 2012 it remained under the management of Gaston's son-in-law, Noël Pinguet, who brought the Domaine into vogue for the production of Chenin Blanc demi-sec. Since 2003, ownership of the Domaine has been in the hands of the Hwang family.

Three legendary vineyards

Today the Domaine, nestled in the "Vouvray" appellation, has 30 hectares of Chenin Blanc divided among three different historic plots: le Haut-Lieu, which covers 15 hectares on a soil of dark clays; le Mont, a very popular vineyard for its history and the longevity of its wines, characterized by a pebbly soil of green clays; and Clos du Bourg, among the oldest vineyards in Vouvray that represents one of the appellation's Premiers Cru and covers 6 hectares surrounded by walls, on a clay-limestone soil and a tuffaceous subsoil. Clos du Bourg wines are deep and dense, suitable for long aging, but gourmand and gastronomic from youth.
