Specialities: Sparkling white wine
Since 1994, a small white house has overlooked the sea, just behind Riomaggiore and at the gates of the Cinque Terre National Park, 400 meters above sea level. In this almost timeless place, Tommaso, Manuela, and Simone decided to restore the vineyards. In 2023, Travandasca was officially born.
Tommaso is an imaginative enologist and winemaker with a highly recognizable stylistic signature: drinkability, intensity, and harmony. The small vines grow slowly, needing time to take root in this rugged land perched over the sea. In the meantime, Tommaso produces wines from organic grapes grown by trusted friends: Trebbiano, Vermentino, and other varieties that tell the story of Liguria and beyond.
A young project perched over the sea
Three labels bearing names evocative of the sea: Polpogiallo, Balenazzurra, and Medusaviola. Wines that taste of wind, salt spray, and that vertical freshness that only altitude and proximity to the Mediterranean can bestow. In the cellar, the approach is minimal, letting the grapes do the talking.
"In the course of a lifetime, you will never make the exact same wine twice," says Tommaso. "You explore so many things, outside and inside yourself... beliefs, moments, opportunities. The sum of your experience and the sum of the World's experience."
A young project looking far into the future, with the patience of those who know that the best things take time. Meanwhile, the wines are already telling a story of sea and mountain.
