"My wines are a reflection of nature. I do not intervene artificially, either in the vineyard or in the cellar. Not even if it would improve the result, I prefer to be content with what nature offers us rather than meddling and manipulating it." Claus
Separate vinifications and lots of work in the vineyard
Claus Preisinger is a class of 1980, his winery is located in Gols a small village on the border with Slovakia and Hungary, in the beautiful area of Lake Neusiedl.
Today he owns about 20 ha of vines, all of which are cultivated biodynamically, but when he started with his first winemaking with his father he had only 3 ha. Trained at the Klosterneuburg Wine Institute, he worked for 3 years at the Nittnaus Winery.
In 2000 he started his first winemaking, his first experiments. With a visionary mind he decided to totally embrace a natural approach in all stages of work, from the field where he began with biodynamic farming and in the cellar, where he chose to eliminate all operations that led to wine alteration (filtrations, exogenous yeasts, corrections. etc).
In 2004 he joined "Pannobile," an association of Austrian winemakers reacting to the industrialization of agriculture, promoting respect for the environment as a production philosophy, and in 2006 he acquired the "Respekt Biodyn" certification, from the very demanding and serious protocols.
Today Claus vinifies the 64 estate parcels all separately, with enormous field and cellar work, a clear sign that biodynamics can be applied even to large expanses of vines.
