Denis Montanar Specialities: Orange wine

Borc Dodòn is the name of the ancient village around which the winery as we know it today is developed, an all-round rural project rooted in the history of the territory. It is from here that Denis's project was born and it is here that he draws his values: traditional and non-invasive processing, the sole use of historical and indigenous vines, great trust in the territory, certified in the style of the wines, made with long macerations and spontaneous fermentations, to last over time.

The pursuit of a family tradition

The Denis Montanar farm is located in Villa Vicentina, in the province of Udine in southeastern Friuli. There are 4 generations of farmers before Denis dedicated to tending the fields between soybeans, spelt, wheat and, of course, grapes. In 1989 Denis inherited the vineyards from his grandfather and rented other surrounding vineyards, starting his first winery production. In 1995 the winery officially took the name Denis Montanar, winning over consumers in a few years for the authenticity of its wines.
Today, thanks to the Borc Dodon project, he has come to have many hectares under cultivation and more than 10 hectares planted with Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Verduzzo Friulano, Tocai Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon grapes. Since 1996 he decided to adopt organic farming and adhere to the "Renaissance du Terroir" protocol:any treatment with chemical compounds or synthetic substances is banned in the vineyard.
Spontaneous vinifications, with more or less prolonged macerations in open vats of fiberglass or wood; no addition of selected yeasts, no clarification, nor filtration; Aging may take place in steel tanks or wooden barrels.
