Cantina Carta

Bosa, Oristano
Officially established in 2017, Cantina Carta actually hides a much longer history that begins in 1980 with the purchase of half a hectare of vineyard in Bosa, an enchanting medieval village in central-western Sardinia and cradle of the eponymous Malvasia, a traditional oxidative wine and a very rare pearl of Sardinian winemaking.
At that time Piero Carta was only five years old, but his future as a winemaker took shape right then by seeing his grandfather working in the countryside and helping his father between the rows during weekends and summers.
Newfound Love!
Piero to this day manages the winery and personally oversees all field operations. Having graduated in economics after various vicissitudes, he decided to devote himself body and soul to the vineyard planted by his father, with the intention of rediscovering and giving luster to the traditional wine of Bosa, Malvasia in oxidative style.
The attention and care for Malvasia are the same as Piero's in the management of the land, betting from the beginning on a cultivation that respects the soil and the environment, and in the winery approach, where the grapes are accompanied on their way to the most natural expression of a raw material, a territory, a tradition. Malvasia is harvested in late October and, following spontaneous fermentation, begins the slow process of oxidative aging in drained oak barrels. Inside the barrels, where the wine rests for at least two years, flor develops, a layer of yeast that allows controlled oxidation, resulting in a unique product.
