Ferme de la Sansonnière

Mark Angeli is a formidable "paysan-vigneron" operating in the Loire Valley, in the Anjou area. If we had to choose one character can embody the wine revolution in the Loire area, it would undoubtedly be Mark whose agricultural vision has steered so many vignerons toward a "natural" philosophy.

A chemistry student turned stonemason, Mark fell inexorably in love with wine to the point of choosing to change his life. Moving to Anjou in 1989, he set out to find land to develop his ideal vision of agriculture. In Bonnezeaux, he fortunately came across the Ferme de La Sansonnière-a historic and polycultural property-it was the opportunity he had been waiting for. After purchasing the property, he immediately converted the farm to biodynamic agriculture, but he did not stop there by trying to establish a virtuous system in all farm processes, suffice it to say that he uses only photovoltaic panel solar electricity and a tractor running on sunflower oil that he himself grows.

It sounds like talking about a pure dreamer, but he is considered, even nationally, one of the best producers in this region.
