Azienda Agricola Possa was born in 2004 in Riomaggiore in the stupendous scenery of "Cinque Terre" by the hand of Samuele Heydi Bonanini, an authentic vine grower originally from these lands, who decided in this territory as impossible as it is shockingly beautiful, to begin his agricultural project starting from 2 fundamental assumptions: on the one hand the desire from day one not to use chemicals in the vineyard out of respect for the ecosystem and biodiversity one of the main pillars of Samuele's thinking, and on the other to recover the ancient varieties that used to inhabit on the terraces and the old abandoned vineyards through the hard and heavy task of maintaining and restoring the dry stone walls.
All this results in luminous wines with an ancient and authentic flavor, an exact picture of the winemaker who produced them.
The identity of a Territory
Today, the winery covers about 5.5 ha of land between owned and leased vineyards.
"At the moment of departure I was faced with the first choice to make: follow the market or follow the identity of a territory that by the way has been known for its wines since Roman times. I took the second path by studying and recovering several native varieties that had almost disappeared, replanted them and put them into production. To date there are 19 native varieties grown on the estate, a small treasure of local biodiversity."
The terraced conformation and the impossibility of entering without any kind of machinery imposes totally manual work. The only machinery that decisively helps Samuel's work is the monorails that run on the slopes overlooking the sea. A fundamental work for the maintenance of this territory.
"The ultimate intent is to arrive at a "chemical free" company and to enhance over the years the use of renewable energy, first and foremost solar energy."
