Azienda Agricola Francesco Guccione Specialities: Orange wine

The winery is located between San Cipirello and Piana degli Albanesi, in the municipality of Monreale at 500 meters above sea level. In total there are almost 10 hectares of which 6 Ha are vineyards. The history of the Guccione family in these lands begins in the 1200s, a history made up of great tradition and love for this stupendous corner of Sicily.

The winery to date produces a range of wines that have become indispensable in the regional wine scene, recognizable for the delicate and elegant hand of Francesco, which tells of great mastery in the cellar. In the field after various vicissitudes since 2012 the biodynamic philosophy has been espoused, orienting all the workings toward a discreet and less interventionist approach.

The company's grape varieties:

On the farm francesco works only with ancient native varieties, in this case:

Trebbiano - A particular clone grown in Cerasa as early as the 1400s

Catarratto - Of the "extra lucido" variety, very delicate and therefore little cultivated today

Perricone - A rare grape variety that found its cradle of origin here in the Belice Valley and almost unknown because it is always vinified together with other grape varieties, particularly Nero d'Avola.

Nerello Mascalese - It is actually native to the eastern part of Sicily and in particular Etna brought to Monreale by Francesco's great-grandfather to associate it in the vinification with Perricone.

Completing the farm are 4 hectares of arable land where varieties of ancient grains are grown and a small vegetable garden.
