Natalino Del Prete Specialities: Red wine

Natalino Del Prete is a true farmer, and for some time now he has been considered a point of reference not only for Salento viticulture but for Apulian viticulture in general. He cultivates his own vineyards in Salento in the towns of Guagnano and San Donaci, where the winery is also based.

His daughter Mina represents the fourth generation of winemakers in the Del Prete family. Their production idea is simple in that it starts from the belief that quality depends totally on the relationship between man and territory, meaning that all the practices that man carries out must have the preservation of the territory as their main purpose.

A quiet man with lively blue eyes, Natalino and family have been producing organically since 1994, but the preservation of the soil, the 'environment and the consumer have always been part of their ideology, in fact they have always not used fertilizers or any other chemical compound.

True character, sometimes rustic, engaging drinkability, this is the pure soul of the wines of Natalino and Mina Del Prete

The total extension is about 11 ha, of which 7 ha are planted with vines and 4 ha with olive trees, the varieties are those typical of the area: Negroamaro, Malvasia Nera, Primitivo and Aleatico; the latter grape is made even more intriguing by the legend that hovers around Aleatico: the land where the vineyard stands is called "Land of the Messapi" and it likes to think that this particular sweet wine, was used by Ulysses to grace the Cyclops Polyphemus, as it was imported here when Apulia was a territory of Magna Graecia.

In the winery, operations are reduced to the bone, with spontaneous fermentations, use of cement, few racking and no use of sulfur dioxide to stabilize the wines.
