Pierluigi Zampaglione Specialities: Orange wine

The Pierluigi Zampaglione farm is a historical presence in Alta Irpinia, near Calitri. We are 800 metres above sea level, on a plateau that slopes gently towards the Ofanto river. On 100 hectares it has been cultivating wheat, legumes and fodder since 1977 and in 1990 it was among the first farms in southern Italy to convert to organic farming.

A Paradise in Upper Irpinia

In 2002, Pierluigi planted two hectares of vineyards on three different types of soil: from south-west to east of yellow silt, with dark stones and siliceous sand. In 2006 Don Chisciotte was born, a young wine idea, an innovative challenge. It is an extremely artisanal and rare wine made from 100% certified organic Fiano grapes, which have adapted well to the altitude, the strong day/night temperature range and the poor, windswept soil. Today, a small production of quality grapes and tomatoes expresses Pierluigi's passion and commitment to represent the potential of the land where he works.
