The winery Weingut Immich-Batterieberg, is located in the village of Enkirch in the central Mosel and boasts very ancient origins, in fact the first document attesting to its existence dates as far back as 908 AD. In 1945 the Immich family bought the parcel and began producing its wines. Starting in 2009, it is regisseur Gernot Kollmann who redeems the production with a change of course toward environmentally friendly viticulture. Today in particular the Enkircher Batterieberg cru has become famous, as over 100-year-old free-range vines can be found here on shale soils and steep slopes

Four historic vineyards

The four vineyards that Immich works on decidedly steep soils are composed mainly of quartzite-rich slate and iron. The resulting wines are great drinking and minerality, products of a unique terroir in every sense. The winery, built from rocks and quartzite, stands on the steep terrain, and inside, the wines are processed with spontaneous fermentations, indigenous yeasts and rested in old barrels depending on the vintage.

The “Riesling Kabinett C.A.I.,” “Riesling Trocken Enkircher Batterieberg,” and “Riesling Ellergrub,” all of which carry a lot of history and passion from this magnificent winery.
