Naboso which means “barefoot” in the Slovak language, is the first Slovak project to land on rollingwine and was born from the passion and hard work of Nadja and Andrej Miklušičák. The winery and vineyards are located in the picturesque village of Sväty Jur , a few kilometers away from Bratislava, in the westernmost area of Slovakia, a stone's throw from the more important Austrian region of Burgenland.

Despite the geographical proximity of the two territories, the terrain here is very different. We are located on the hilly slopes of the Carpathian mountain range , a geological formation with a solid rocky granite substrate mixed with a conglomerate of strata and sandy in the immediate subsoil. As with the surrounding regions of Austria and the Czech Republic, grapes typical of the Central European regions are found here: Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling, along with Moravian Muscat, Pinot Gris to other lesser-known grapes. Wines of great finesse and mineral charm.

Philosophy and Terroir

“Our philosophy is very simple. We produce wine in a respectful way and at the end of the process we want it to be good. The wine must be stable, without defects, good drinking and pleasant. Most of all, it has to please us, otherwise it will never leave our cellar.” Nadja and Andrej Miklušičák.

The goal is clear to aim straight for quality, producing wines of great precision that can tell the story of such a unique terroir as the Eastern Carpathians. Tasting Naboso wines provides an essential building block for understanding and contextualizing the vibrant scene in Central Europe today: their granitic terroir gives the wines an essential and elegant dimension. Far from obvious.
