"Les vignes dans le ciel", with this very evocative and poetic expression Jacques and Marion present their domaine. It is not just poetry though, the vineyards actually rise up to an altitude of 1,000 metres, arranged on terraces and with slopes that are often prohibitive: the Domaine de Beudon can in fact only be reached on foot or by private cable car. In 1971, Jacques Granges and his wife Marion fell in love with the Domaine located in the Swiss village of Fully, in the canton of Valais, on the right bank of the Rhone.

The state of abandonment was total and also affected the vineyard, so the two set about managing the vines with total respect for the surrounding biodiversity. The 6 hectares of vines lie on stony, sandy soil, the result of the disintegration of the rocky ridges that rise all around. The hot summers favour the development of an almost Mediterranean vegetation, the mild autumn temperatures mitigate the risk of frost, favouring the ripening of the grapes. Finally, the mountains shelter the area from frequent rainfall. A magical place, where viticulture is one with a lifestyle completely immersed in nature.

Marion, the guardian of the mountain

Today, after Jacques' tragic death, Marion steadfastly carries on the Domaine. With the planting of new plants from strictly indigenous varieties, the soils have great variety in terms of soil and geology with alternating gneiss cliffs, loess, moraines and crystalline rocks.

Domaine de Beudon has been certified organic since 1974 and the entire estate has been run according to biodynamic farming principles since 1993.
