Il Pellagroso Specialities: Red wine

Il Pellagroso is a young and dynamic reality run by Antonio "Billy "Camazzola, who a few years ago decided to leave the activity of innkeeper to devote himself fully to the recovery of old plots of land in the Mantua area. We are in Monzambano, in the province of Mantua, in the morainic hills of Lake Garda. In 2018 the area planted with vines was increased by 5.5 hectares, and conversion work began immediately through the use of biodynamic preparations, herbal teas, propolis and effective microorganisms.

Farm History

"The concrete idea to start making wine took hold in 2011 when we managed a small vineyard of 7 rows composed of very old black and white grape vines. Abandoned for years by men and God, after heavy pruning, we decide to avoid any treatment. So in 2012, in the oldest court of the village (also in a state of abandonment), our first wine was born.

In this same courtyard, in 1800, "The Pellagroso" was printed... Popular, administrative and political newspaper that recorded the economic-social hardships of a time when the peasants' living conditions were harsh, but where the will to fight for a more humane and just future was alive. A newspaper of protest, uncomfortable to many, unabashed. "The Pellagroso" was fighting to impose a new way of farming, of living. Hence the name Vigne del Pellagroso.." Antonio Camazzola
