Producer: Podere Sante Marie - Marino Colleoni
Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2019 Cru Santa Maria
Montalcino, Siena
Poggio Sant'Arna is a small cru of only 0.3 hectares on the southern slope of Montalcino, an area with predominantly sandy soils that more than other plots are able to express power in the wine.
This is an irresistible wine, with a juicy, vertical and very dynamic mouthfeel.
On the palate, it is a riot of citrus and floral notes, hints of undergrowth, and a true, crisp density.
Podere Sante Marie - Marino Colleoni
Marino Colleoni settled in Montalcino only in 2000, the year of the winery's first harvest, but his partner Luisa bought the house and land in 1989. Only five years later did they discover that vine branches and bunches of grapes were sprouting from the woods, which enabled them to realize what for them was only a dream, to produce wine: after preparing the land respecting the centuries-old terraces held up by dry-stone walls, they planted Sangiovese Grosso, from whose juice they obtained the first Brunello, which they began to market only after five years of aging, in 2005.
The company bought other plots of land in Sant'Antimo, particularly olive groves for the production of extra virgin olive oil. Currently, after a patient work of manual recovery, a consequence of the company's choice to preserve the ancient crop varieties present, the olive grove is' slowly recovering its original vigor producing olives of excellent quality.
