In fact, this is the only way to understand the smallest nuances that each terroir expresses in different vintages thanks to spontaneous fermentation.
The Tondonia always expresses darker notes, but always vibrant and alive. The 2011 presents a more powerful and muscular wine than the 2010, but equally enjoyable and tasty.
On the palate, the dark fruit of unripe cherries and blackberries are joined by tertiary hints such as mushrooms, dried berries, vanilla, tobacco and humus developed thanks to the long aging in wood. Powerful but harmonious palate where soft tannins and alcohol are balanced with subtle acidity. Long, very long.

Lopez de Heredia
Lopez de Heredia is certainly one of the oldest and most representative wineries in all of Spain. Founded in 1877 by Rafael Lopez de Heredia, it still produces legendary Rioja wines for long aging, very elegant where the pursuit of acidity is more important than the alcohol content according to a processing method proven over 130 years of history.
Traditionally, the wines are never released on the market before 5-10 years, a significant aging far longer than what their colleagues in the area do. The quest for perfection is utmost and no wine is released until it is ready.
The result are wines are truly remarkable, it is amazing how the infinitely complex secondary and tertiary notes blend with the fruit that remains fresh and enjoyable years later. The textures are special. These wines have that paradoxical lightness and depth, with enormous aging potential.
