Poggio ai Mori 2020 Chianti Classico DOCG
Castellina in Chianti, Siena
Sangiovese 100% from various plots from Poggio ai Mori, a fully planted hillside that has various exposures from southeast to northwest, the soils here have a very old marly matrix perfect for Sangiovese. The result is full, fruity wines with a deep soul.
On the nose lots of violets, licorice, leather, dark berries, underbrush and pepper notes. In the mouth it is fresh and juicy despite a respectable alcohol content. Opening in the glass come notes of menthol, ripe cherries, cranberries, thyme and more balsamic notes on the finish.

San Donatino
The history of San Donatino began in 1971 when Leo Ferrè, a well-known French poet and singer, bought with his wife Maria Cristina Diaz the estate located in one of the most vocated areas of Chianti Classico in Castellina in Chianti in the Elsa valley at 420 meters above sea level.
Right from the start, the Ferrés set about restoring and making productive the vineyards and the approximately 5,000 olive trees. The first vintages were sold in bulk until the early 1990s when the decision was made to bottle and begin marketing on their own.
From Gambelli through Staderini to Giovanni Stella, important names have worked in the winery, united by a very precise production philosophy: traditional winemaking where the sign of the territory and the difference of the vintages have absolute prevalence over any form of standardization of the wines. Fermentations take place spontaneously without the use of inoculated yeasts, macerations are prolonged and the wines remain “sur lie” for several months. The base wines are aged only in steel while the crus age in wood.
