Marguerite 2023 Vin De France
Le Landreau, Pays Nantais, Vallèe de la Loire
A “secondary” grape of the pays nantais, compared to Melon de Bourgogne, Folle Blanche is a neutral variety, considered of little value and very productive, more interesting for distillation than for wine production. Yet Fred Niger, following the idea of also enhancing the territory through the native grape, produces an intense and mineral version of it with great charm.
The nose mixes mineral notes and very marked maritime notes, seaweed, iodine, hints of citrus and gentian root. The attack is clean and direct, the wine shows important volume in the center of the mouth, nice acidity on lime notes; very saline notes accompany the sip from start to finish converging in a nice savory finish. The revenge of the Folle Blanche!
A perfect wine for the aperitif!
