Bianco del Comandante 2022 Salina IGT
Malfa, Isola di Salina, Messina
This pure Malvasia delle Lipari expresses the vibrant identity of Salina's volcanic terroir through a process designed to translate every territorial nuance into the glass: the combination of 24-hour skin maceration and immediate direct pressing creates a harmonious structure, blending extractive depth with aromatic verticality. Spontaneous fermentation and twelve months of aging on fine lees in stainless steel define a sensory profile of great precision, preserving fruit integrity and a distinctive marine salinity. The result is a wine of remarkable elegance and gastronomic versatility, where freshness supports ripe yellow-fleshed fruit and notes of Mediterranean scrub and caper flower. It is the ideal pairing for seafood, white meats, and the complexity of caponata—a superb expression of Aeolian winemaking.
Barbanacoli
Located in Malfa on the island of Salina, the Barbanacoli estate was founded by Diego Taranto to enhance his family's viticultural heritage through a pioneering agronomic recovery project. Here, the winemaker is defined as an interpreter and guardian of a heroic landscape, where returning to one's roots is paired with the careful management of historical terraced vineyards.
The project stems from the restoration of small plots situated on prime volcanic soils, aiming to preserve local biodiversity and the expressive verticality of indigenous varieties. The focus on manual labor and a deep understanding of the Aeolian microclimate transform every row into a bastion of excellence, capable of reflecting the island's history and geology.
