Producer: Champagne Tarlant
Champagne Brut Zero Nature Tarlant
A beautiful Champagne hailing from the Rivières hills in the Marne Valley, produced from vines with an average age of 40 years, located in the villages of Œuilly, Boursault, Celles-lès-Condé, and Saint-Agnan.
The blend of this cuvée is highly distinctive because, along with the classic Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier, 4% is composed of ancient varieties such as Petit Meslier, Arbanne, and Pinot Blanc.
The harvest took place from September 20th to October 10th, 2016, with the addition of 40% reserve wines in the cellar.
Traditional vinification involves gentle pressing by gravity and parcellaire (plot-by-plot) vinification. The first fermentation is spontaneous, followed by a six-month rest on the fine lees in oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is not induced. Reserve wines are aged in barrels, and throughout the entire production process, there is no filtration or fining.
The bottling was carried out in May 2017 and disgorgement in February 2023, totaling approximately 6 years of aging on the lees in the bottle!
This Brut Nature (Zero Dosage) offers an intense and mineral sensory experience on tasting. Visually luminous, the nose releases complex aromas of citrus, white fruit, and toasted notes due to the yeast aging. The palate is extremely dry, savory, and vibrant, characterized by taut acidity that makes it a pure and dynamic example of its terroir, finishing with a long, clean conclusion, enhanced by a very fine perlage!
Champagne Tarlant
Champagne Tarlant is the epitome of family tradition and innovation, with a history rooted in 1687, when Pierre Tarlant began cultivating the first vineyards in the Aisne region, later establishing the family stronghold in Œuilly, within the Vallée de la Marne. Today, the twelfth generation, led by Benoît Tarlant, manages 14 hectares across approximately 57 different plots, firmly committing to a pure and radical winemaking style. Tarlant’s philosophy is centered on the utmost respect for the terroir, adopting viticultural practices that combine principles of sustainable and biodynamic farming. They minimize human intervention to allow the complexity of the soils—chalk, sand, and limestone—to truly shine. This meticulous care in the vineyard translates into grapes of the highest quality, which are essential to achieving their primary objective.
