Producer: Jordi Llorens
Blan 5.7 2021
Blancafort, Tarragona, Catalonia
Blan 5.7 is Jordi's entry wine, a clear representation of his style. 5.7 is a reference to his address in Blancafort, the same as his ancestors, the coordinates of his home, where it all began. One understands the intent to make wine his calling card, 5.7 is the manifesto of Jordi Llorens' style, even in the choice of grapes: the wine is 5 parts Macabeu, 7 parts Parellada.
On tasting, the drink is well-structured and bright, with notes of lemon, dried apricot and spices of cumin and ginger. High in acidity but also round reveals good structure.
Energetic but also silky wine, where the Parellada gives fresh tension and fatness, the Macabeu depth and fruit notes.
Jordi Llorens
The Jordi Llorens winery is a young entity inaugurated in 2008 and based in Blancafort, a small town in the province of Tarragona, southern Catalonia. Old farming family of which Jordi represents the eighth generation. The winery today has about 20 hectares of land in polyculture, where, in addition to olive and almond trees, there are about 14 hectares planted with the main local varieties: from Macabeu, to Moscatell, flanked by some plots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
His training as a geologist means that he knows his soils to perfection, allowing him to work them to the best of his ability. Most of the soils consist of limestone soils and a small percentage of clays. For Jordi, wine is born in the vineyard and from respect for the environment and the land, without the use of chemicals or other additives. The philosophy in the winery is spontaneous fermentation of two or more varieties together, seeking in balance and diversity, completeness and complexity of expression.
