The Domaine de la Tournelle was born thanks to Evelyne and Pascal Clairet in 1991. The aim from the outset was to make wines that truly and clearly tell the story of the Jura territory. Today, the company owns 7 hectares all in the commune of Arbois, a large part of which is in the spectacular Couron Cru in the lieu dit 'Les Corvées'.
The special feature is that all new replantings are the result of continuous mass selection from the oldest estate vineyards. Every year, the under-row is hoed by hand! They have always wanted to work with little chemical intervention in the vineyard (Bio and Biodynamic cert. in 2010), and in the cellar they do not even use sulphur dioxide.
Only grapes.
Each wine is released at least 24 months after the harvest, a crucial time for the wine to stabilise and refine. It also produces an exceptional vin Jaune that comes out a few years later than the general average, the finest voile in the whole of the Jura I dare say!
The Trousseau is a nectar of pleasure in its youth and a Burgundian emotion with a few years on its shoulders... there is no shortage of other expressions, especially in the whites, which have, in their style, a purity beyond imagining.
Today, Domaine de la Tournelle is considered among the greatest, most exciting and finest expressions of the Jura.
