Dicomano, Firenze
We are in Dicomano in the province of Florence in the heart of Tuscany, where the Mugello valley ends and the Valdisieve valley begins, at the confluence of the Comano and Sieve streams, in a cool ,still green and wild place, well away from anthropization that undermines the natural balance of the place.
Hillside viticulture, with all the vineyards at an altitude of about 400 mt/slm. Frascole is a family-run business established in 1992: 15 hectares of property between vineyard and olive groves, entirely organic since 1999. Field work is always carried out with the utmost care to preserve the natural conformation of the place.
The winery is located in a small medieval village, a raw gem of rare beauty and tranquility.
Chianti Rufina, a unique area
The Chianti Rufina valley is distinguished by some peculiar characteristics: first of all, it is a particularly cool area, entirely hilly, with poor soils that have arenaceous, calcareous and marly substrates, with the presence of sand and pebbles.
The grapes cultivated are predominantly red grapes with Sangiovese as the leader, which here takes on unique characteristics of finesse and freshness, followed by Canaiolo and Colorino, Merlot and Pinot Noir, the latter being particularly prized because the cool area characterized by large temperature ranges allows the grapes to ripen very slowly, a fundamental characteristic for Pinot Noir, which does not like particularly hot climates. The white grapes are the classic Tuscan ones namely:Trebbiano Toscano and some Malvasia Bianca.
