The domaine has been owned by the Bouvier family for three generations. Since 1992 it has been managed by Bernard Bouvier. Founded by Henri Bouvier in 1910 it grew thanks to René his son, who took control in 1950 and expanded it to an area of 12 hectares by 1991. With Bernard's tenacity and modern vision today the hectares have grown to 17 and the vineyards are located in six of the most important “villages” including: Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin and Marsannay with Premier Cru and Grand Cru plots.

Classic Burgundy grapes are grown: Pinot Noir for red wines and Marsannay Rosé and Chardonnay and Aligoté for whites.

The vines are on average 50 years old, but some Gevrey-Chambertin plots are over 80 years old.

Each "lieu-dit" has its own expression

Bernard Bouvier, being the great winemaker that he is, works to preserve the individual character of each “lieu-dit” that is expressed through the wine, which is why from each individual vineyard Bernard obtains only one wine, to reveal as much as possible the expression of that terroir.

The search for expressive purity guides every production action, to obtain well-balanced wines with their own minerality, in which the unique nature of each “climat” of origin is evident. Wine authenticity and balance are achieved by harvesting grapes at the right stage of physiological and phenolic ripeness, neither too late nor too early, depending on the vineyard of origin. Patience and careful observation lead to as little intervention as possible both in the field and in the cellar, to allow the terroir to express its individuality without unnatural forcing that would jeopardize the wine's natural balance.
