Dwnl Specialities: Red wine

The DWNL winery, an acronym for "Drink Wines, Not Labels," was born from the bold vision of Alessandro Salvano, a young producer who chose to bring substance back to the heart of the glass, prioritizing it over prestige. Located in Montelupo Albese, just a stone's throw from the borders of the prestigious Barolo region, the estate thrives in that delicate balance between a deep-rooted knowledge of Langhe traditions and a desire for unfiltered expressive freedom. Alessandro’s philosophy is an invitation to rediscover wine in its most authentic form, favoring the character of the terroir and the labor in the vineyard over the influences of marketing—creating a direct, sincere connection between the producer and the enthusiast.

After all, we’ve always told you the same: "Be hunters of fine wines, not labels."

Craftsmanship and Transparency in Every Wine

From a production standpoint, DWNL distinguishes itself through a minimalist and respectful approach, which today translates into an annual production of approximately 25,000 bottles, all crafted with meticulous, tailor-made dedication. Across roughly 6 hectares of vineyards, Alessandro practices viticulture with a keen focus on sustainability, bringing grapes to the cellar to undergo spontaneous whole-cluster fermentations using indigenous yeasts.

The choice to forgo fining and filtration allows varieties such as Nebbiolo, Pinot Nero, and Chardonnay to express themselves with remarkable verticality and freshness. Every bottle tells the story of steady growth; despite doubling its volume in recent years, the winery has never sacrificed the artisanal soul and stylistic purity that make DWNL one of the most compelling names in the new Piedmontese wine scene.
