Producer: Dwnl
Pinot Nero 2024 Langhe DOC
Castellinaldo d'Alba, Cuneo
Achieving this level of balance with Pinot Noir is no small feat. It is all too easy to fall into the trap of versions that are either overripe or, conversely, excessively thin. Alessandro has managed to hit the sweet spot perfectly: an incredibly elegant wine that demonstrates how a producer’s touch can elevate such a finicky international variety to the heights of artisanal excellence.
It is a Pinot Noir that doesn’t shout; instead, it captivates with its precision. What is truly striking is its persistence. Despite a structure that is anything but ordinary, it remains 'light' on the palate—an ethereal wine with a sip that stays alive for a long time, closing on a savory and elegant finish.
Dwnl
The DWNL winery, an acronym for "Drink Wines, Not Labels," was born from the bold vision of Alessandro Salvano, a young producer who chose to bring substance back to the heart of the glass, prioritizing it over prestige. Located in Montelupo Albese, just a stone's throw from the borders of the prestigious Barolo region, the estate thrives in that delicate balance between a deep-rooted knowledge of Langhe traditions and a desire for unfiltered expressive freedom. Alessandro’s philosophy is an invitation to rediscover wine in its most authentic form, favoring the character of the terroir and the labor in the vineyard over the influences of marketing—creating a direct, sincere connection between the producer and the enthusiast.
After all, we’ve always told you the same: "Be hunters of fine wines, not labels."
