Producer: Martin Vajcner
Pinot Noir 2022
Hodonice, Znojmo.
Pure Pinot Noir from the terroir of Stov, the soil consisting of river sediments with clay and granite.
Interesting vinification with semi-carbonic whole cluster maceration for 8 days in wooden vats followed by pressing and fermentation on the skins for about 2 weeks.
Summery, beguiling red. Light-bodied, refreshing and with good acidity: it plays more on ‘frivolous’ and immediate drinking than on body and complexity. All the grace of Pinot Noir amplified to the nth degree.
Martin Vajcner
Martin Vajcner manages 7 ha of vineyards in the Znojmo wine region in the southeastern Czech Republic. 8 small vineyards, organically farmed.
Each vineyard area is characterized by a peculiar soil composition, different altitudes and exposures. “I strive to make wine in a way that manifests all these factors. Nature itself determines the flavor of the wines, so my goal is to minimize interference in the process. The range of colors, flavors and aromas brings endless variety and this also gives me immense joy.”
All of Martin's passion for his terroir and the craft of winemaking is clear from these words. He produces wines that are pure, singular and profound, introducing us to a wine-growing area that has for too long remained off our radar.
