Producer: Cristina Prandi
Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2023 Prandi
Barolo, Cuneo
Cristina Prandi is one of the most exciting new names in Barolo. Her Langhe Nebbiolo combines classical origins with a brilliant, delicate, and juicy expression.
Today, Cristina owns vineyards in Paiagallo and La Morra, working without compromise using spontaneous fermentations, concrete, large casks, and steel to let the Nebbiolo and the terroir speak clearly. The grapes for this Langhe DOC come from the La Morra area, specifically from the Bricco Cogni subzone.
On the nose, it is an explosion of freshness: classic hints of rose and small red fruits like raspberry and cherry intertwine with a light mineral note. On the palate, the sip is taut, vertical, and incredibly dynamic. Although the tannin is present—the hallmark of a true Nebbiolo—it is crafted with such finesse that it feels silky, closing with a savory finish.

A Rediscovered Heritage and a New Dawn
Cristina Marello Prandi, born in 1998, embodies the paradox of being the latest heir to a historic dynasty and, simultaneously, the founder of a completely new project. Her family has deep roots in Barolo dating back to 1864, but after decades of male-led management and a 36-year production silence, the Prandi name had nearly vanished from wine labels. Thanks to the mentorship of her uncle Giuseppe—the silent guardian of the family’s vineyards and traditions—Cristina absorbed a profound respect for the land and the art of listening to nature. However, hers is not a simple succession; it is a rebirth. With a determination that turns obstacles into motivation, the young producer has reclaimed her destiny, investing in a new winery in La Morra to give voice to a heritage that was simply waiting to be revealed.
