Vespolina Nina 2024 Colline Novaresi DOC
Briona, Novara
Often considered the "sister" of Nebbiolo—with which it shares a genetic link—Vespolina finds an ideal habitat here in the hills of Briona to express its spicy and vibrant character. The name "Nina" is a tribute to Marco’s grandmother, continuing the winery’s tradition of family tributes and standing alongside "Bigin" (the grandfather).
As with the Nebbiolo, the 2024 vintage benefited from a regular growing cycle thanks to spring rains. For Vespolina, a variety that particularly fears water stress, this climate preserved a sharp acidic tension and allowed for the development of a particularly fine aromatic profile, avoiding excessive alcohol peaks while protecting the fragrance of the fruit.
The winemaking was also designed with expressive purity and lightness in mind, using exclusively stainless steel for aging to keep the wine fresh and authentic.
Castaldi Francesca
Nestled in the landscape of Briona, the winery of Francesca and Marco acts as a guardian of Alto Piemonte, interpreting viticulture as a harmonious dialogue with the environment. Across their 8 hectares in the Colline Novaresi, nature dictates the rules: although certified in integrated pest management, the farming spontaneously evolves into a biological regime whenever the vintage allows, minimizing human intervention. Here, the work consists of ancient gestures: the vines are tended exclusively by hand, respecting the plant's natural timing through to the manual harvest.
