Producer: Bergianti Vini
Stiolo Rosso 2023 Emilia IGT
Gargallo di Carpi, Modena
Gianluca's good friend Gabriele Ronzoni owns a biodynamic farm called "Casalpriore," located in Stiolo di San Martino in the province of Reggio Emilia, situated south of Bergianti's vineyards in the Modena area. Gianluca decided to keep the production of Casalpriore separate from Bergianti, because the old vines (planted in 1960) in the alluvial soils of this area give a very different character than the freshness and finesse of the Modena area; they are wines with more body and power.
"Stiolorosso" is 100% Lambrusco di Sorbara for which Gianluca adopts a traditional local winemaking style: three days of fulling, and you're done. This keeps the wine lively and prevents excessive extraction, as despite a short maceration it has a very deep color.
On the palate it offers a typically expressive nose of earthy black cherries, with just a trace of well-calibrated volatility and a subtle salty flavor, and its palate is juicy and taut, with clear notes of intriguing cherries.
