L'Aqvarello: A Refreshing Summer Sip

L'Aqvarello by Chioccioli Altadonna is a naturally sparkling, flavored wine-based drink. It's a true "piquette" of yesteryear, a refreshing and thirst-quenching "sharecropper's wine" made by rehydrating grape pomace with fresh water to extract the last of its juices. This results in a low-alcohol "water-wine" (acquaevino) that's full of fruit and bubbles, offering high drinkability.

Essentially a "second wine," L'Aqvarello is born from a culture of reuse and recycling. This is how those "food wines" were created, which for centuries formed the basis of the Mediterranean diet—beverages that were both thirst-quenching and invigorating.

Bringing this liquid back into vogue, giving it a fresh, dynamic look and product stability, was a brilliant idea.

L'Aqvarello is the perfect summer drink, a tasty alternative to beer. Alongside ciders and kombucha, piquette is another beverage to keep on hand for refreshing aperitifs or a relaxed evening around the grill!

From the producer

Chioccioli Altadonna

Chioccioli Altadonna is a family-run winery in the heart of Siena's Chianti Classico region.

Led by winemaker Niccolò and master distiller Enrico, sons of renowned agronomist and oenologist Stefano Chioccioli

The estate includes 8 hectares of vineyards interspersed with olive groves and dense forests of oak and chestnut trees, in an unspoiled and wild setting.

Production is driven by a simple desire: to return to the land to create wines that tell the fantastic terroir of southern Chianti Classico in all its nuances. The mission is to interpret and make their own this extraordinary heritage of nature and culture.

In this sense, nothing more than wine is able to embody the dense and complex universe that is Tuscany. To achieve this, we have placed the vineyard at the center to produce territorial wines with respect for Nature and our viticultural ecosystem.”

Wines that speak the language of elegance. Clean, pure and fun.
