Zino Vino Bianco
Belvedere di Suvereto, Livorno
In the summer of 2018, Massimo and Paola returned from Pantelleria carrying the island's scents with them: the wind, the volcano, the salt, the helichrysum, and the dry light that lingers on the skin. It was from that trip that the idea was born to restore a small, abandoned vineyard, one hectare of over sixty-year-old bush-trained (alberello) Moscato di Alessandria vines.
A Mediterranean white, aromatic and saline, it brings to the glass notes of dog rose, helichrysum, apricot, elderflower, rosemary, and almond, offering a mineral and direct sip.
This is how ZINO was born: from an unexpected encounter, from a vineyard brought back to life, and from the desire to capture the island's most essential character in a wine. Not an exotic reference, but a real agricultural fragment, Mediterranean, saline, and aromatic.
I Mandorli
The winery was founded in 2002 by Maddalena Pasquetti’s father, Massimo, who fell in love with a few hectares of land in Belvedere di Suvereto and purchased them. In 2003, the first Sangiovese vineyards were planted on the north-east side, followed in 2004 by the first Cabernet vines on the south-east side.
We belong to the land, not the other way around. Every season teaches something new, and our job is to observe, adapt, and find the balance between agricultural practice and soil life. We use green manure in alternating rows to nourish the soil, natural preparations in the vineyard, and copper and sulfur only in the quantities strictly necessary depending on the vintage.
The plants have found their balance with the environment and often regulate themselves. In the newer Vermentino plots, we are experimenting exclusively with homeopathic preparations, completely without copper and sulfur—to understand just how far we can push our boundaries.
