Vermentino 2025 Toscana IGT
Belvedere di Suvereto, Livorno
Unlike most Tuscan Vermentinos, Maddalena chose to plant a Corsican Vermentino clone, characterized by loose bunches that promote high acidity and excellent disease resistance.
The vines, with an average age of about 10 years, grow on predominantly clay and schist soils divided into two distinct plots: one north-facing, completely surrounded by Mediterranean scrub and woodland, and one south-facing, looking directly towards the sea.
On the nose, it opens elegantly, offering aromas of fruit such as white peach and orange, followed by chamomile, thyme, acacia honey, and wild Mediterranean herbs.
On the palate, it stands out for a vibrant acidity perfectly balanced by an enveloping texture and a distinctly savory, marine finish of excellent persistence.
I Mandorli
The winery was founded in 2002 by Maddalena Pasquetti’s father, Massimo, who fell in love with a few hectares of land in Belvedere di Suvereto and purchased them. In 2003, the first Sangiovese vineyards were planted on the north-east side, followed in 2004 by the first Cabernet vines on the south-east side.
We belong to the land, not the other way around. Every season teaches something new, and our job is to observe, adapt, and find the balance between agricultural practice and soil life. We use green manure in alternating rows to nourish the soil, natural preparations in the vineyard, and copper and sulfur only in the quantities strictly necessary depending on the vintage.
The plants have found their balance with the environment and often regulate themselves. In the newer Vermentino plots, we are experimenting exclusively with homeopathic preparations, completely without copper and sulfur—to understand just how far we can push our boundaries.
