Cigliano di Sopra 25000 bottles in the cellar
Cigliano di Sopra Specialities: Red wine

Cigliano di Sopra is located in the northern part of Chianti Classico in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. 7 hectares of vineyards, 17 in olive groves and the remaining 8 in woods all around the property. The place is uniquely beautiful, we are about 250 meters above sea level with vineyards on sandy and clay soils rich in skeleton and limestone. The main body of the farm together with the historic cellars dates back to the 1400s.

Today Maddalena Fucile and Matteo Vaccari manage the production of the farm's wines with results that are nothing short of exciting. Their style is the result of much study (both are oenologists) and practice in the field, made in many Italian and foreign wineries. Despite their young age they have been able to give the wines a very refined and recognizable territorial imprint, starting with the agricultural choice of organic farming and minimalist cellar work.

The elegant soul of Sangiovese

Winemaking by parcel, winery processes reduced to the bone with few racking no filtration or chemical-physical stabilization and in general avoidance of all those operations that can stress the grapes since their arrival in the cellar. Circular use of all the resources available on the farm, from wild herbs to wood from the forests. These are all virtuous practices aimed at achieving a high standard of quality, and finally also the use of wood for aging in a very gentle way, to help the wine evolve and express its territorial imprint: “We believe that wine as living matter needs to breathe, so all our wines are aged in wood so as not to cover the primary and secondary aromas of the wine.”

These wines have a soul, an elegant undertone that accompanies them from the first to the last sip. Try it to believe!
