Sangiovese 100% vinified with a small part of the grapes whole cluster.

From vineyards at an average altitude of 250 mt/slm on predominantly sandy soils with minority parts of silt and clay and much skeleton. The alluvial nature of the soils protects the vines from water stress even in particularly dry years.

The taste is very interesting: sweet and floral scents, in addition to notes of dark forest fruit, pomegranate and tart cherry. Tannin and acidity support and relaunch a drink that runs off with great lightness. Territory that lends elegance to the Sangiovese, a true trademark of Cigliano di Sopra.

The beauty of the appellation is the variety of people and places, not the sterile recognizability of a product” Maddalena and Matteo

From the producer

Cigliano di Sopra

Cigliano di Sopra is located in the northern part of Chianti Classico in the municipality of San Casciano in Val di Pesa. 7 hectares of vineyards, 17 in olive groves and the remaining 8 in woods all around the property. The place is uniquely beautiful, we are about 250 meters above sea level with vineyards on sandy and clay soils rich in skeleton and limestone. The main body of the farm together with the historic cellars dates back to the 1400s.

Today Maddalena Fucile and Matteo Vaccari manage the production of the farm's wines with results that are nothing short of exciting. Their style is the result of much study (both are oenologists) and practice in the field, made in many Italian and foreign wineries. Despite their young age they have been able to give the wines a very refined and recognizable territorial imprint, starting with the agricultural choice of organic farming and minimalist cellar work.
