Etienne Seignovert Specialities: Red wine

Etienne Seignovert, a winemaker in the Northern Rhône Valley about 20km west of Tain l’Hermitage, released his first vintage in 2020. After a tour of France to study first in Beaune and then in Montpellier, he decided to gain experience by working at various domaines before returning to the family property in Saint Barthélémy le Plain.

This area of the Doux Valley is particularly suited to viticulture, and he aims to create thoughtful wines that express freshness and delicacy. The goal is to establish a polyculture farm with an agroforestry structure, in full respect of biodiversity, with only one idea at the heart of the activity: the wine.

The Vineyard and the Cellar

His plots of Syrah, Merlot, Marsanne, Roussanne, and Gamay flourish on the granitic terraces of Saint-Barthélemy-le-Plain and Tournon-sur-Rhône, at 300-500 meters above sea level. In addition to these small plots, the majority of his grapes are sourced from friends and esteemed winemakers in St. Joseph, Ardèche, and Savoie, all adhering to the principles of organic farming.

In the cellar, Etienne works with stainless steel and French oak barrels sourced from small, high-quality coopers. He does not fine, filter, or add sulfur dioxide to his wines. Each bottle is a testament to his dedication, showcasing a pure expression of fruit, gentle extraction, and vibrant, electric flavors rich in personality.
