A Historic Stronghold on the Northern Slope
Castello Tricerchi, a majestic fortress completed in 1441 by the Tricerchi family, overlooks the northern slope of Montalcino and stands today as a benchmark for those seeking elegance and freshness.
Under the leadership of Tommaso Squarcia, the estate has embarked on a journey to enhance its 13 hectares of Sangiovese vineyards, all farmed organically. The geographical location is crucial: situated at an altitude of approximately 300 meters, the vineyards benefit from cooler temperatures and clay-limestone soils. These conditions result in wines characterized by a natural acidic tension and a distinctive aromatic finesse, a departure from the warmer opulence found on the southern slopes.
Architectural and Enological Tradition
The aging cellar, located in the castle's subterranean dungeons, ensures constant thermal conditions thanks to the massive medieval walls, providing an ideal environment for the rest of the Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. The production philosophy is oriented toward terroir transparency: the skillful use of 20 and 35-hectoliter oak casks supports the Sangiovese without ever overpowering it, preserving the vibrant fruit notes. From the exclusive Riserva A.D. 1441 to the dynamic IuLì'o, every Castello Tricerchi label is a tribute to the property’s centuries-old history, blending the rigor of tradition with a modern and precise enological sensibility.
