This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, sourced primarily from the Istine and Casanova dell’Aia vineyards in Radda in Chianti, and the Cavarchione vineyard in Gaiole in Chianti. A small portion of the grapes also comes from the Tibuca and Le Noci plots.

The vineyards are located at an average altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. The soil is rich in rocky fragments, with alternating layers of marly limestone (Alberese and Galestro) and varying percentages of clay.

As the winery's "signature" wine, it is characterized by an elegant freshness typical of high-altitude vineyards, a very delicate tannin structure, and fruity notes. It tells the story of a modern Chianti that is much closer to its ancient soul: a fine and drinkable wine suitable for any occasion, without being overly structured.

A Family Story

The story of Istine is a blend of tradition and entrepreneurial spirit. Its roots lie in the Fronti family's passion for the land.

It all began in 1959 when Bruno Fronti founded a company providing agricultural services. After years of experience in the winemaking world, the family decided to cultivate their own vineyards. In 1982, the first plots of land were acquired, and today the winery manages about 20 hectares, spread across Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. This "mosaic" style of cultivation, with separate parcels, gives each plot of land its own unique identity.

For a long time, the grapes were sold to other wineries, but the desire to tell their own story led to a change. With the 2009 vintage, the winery bottled its first wine, marking the beginning of a new era with its own label.
