Vigna Casanova dell'Aia 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione
Radda in Chianti, Siena
Gran Selezione
100% Sangiovese. From the best grapes (third-pass harvest) coming exclusively from the Casanova dell’Aia vineyard in Radda in Chianti, located near the town. This was the first plot of land acquired by the family, where the vineyard was planted in the 1980s and then replanted in 2014 and 2018.
The vineyards are at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level and are rich in rocky skeleton with alternating marly limestones (Alberese and Galestro) and a good presence of clay.
The Gran Selezione represents the vinification of a single vineyard. Finally, even in Chianti Classico, we are seeing a focus on highlighting the differences between zones, creating a map of the various expressions of Sangiovese from different terroirs!
The south-facing exposure and the considerable percentage of clay create a wine that is rounder and more fruit-forward compared to other Gran Seleziones. It’s a joyful and sunny wine with a substantial presence. Although it has an expansive, fruity component with black cherry and a noticeable citrus note, it is also very fragrant and has a long finish on the palate. This is an expression of Chianti Classico capable of enchanting the palate of any lover of structured red wines. It’s never heavy—the bottle is gone in a flash!

Istine
A Family Story
The story of Istine is a blend of tradition and entrepreneurial spirit. Its roots lie in the Fronti family's passion for the land.
It all began in 1959 when Bruno Fronti founded a company providing agricultural services. After years of experience in the winemaking world, the family decided to cultivate their own vineyards. In 1982, the first plots of land were acquired, and today the winery manages about 20 hectares, spread across Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. This "mosaic" style of cultivation, with separate parcels, gives each plot of land its own unique identity.
For a long time, the grapes were sold to other wineries, but the desire to tell their own story led to a change. With the 2009 vintage, the winery bottled its first wine, marking the beginning of a new era with its own label.
